The Dark Knight Rises

It has been 8 long years since Batman (Christian Bale) had turned from a hero to a fugitive in one night for killing Gothams beloved D.A. Harvey Dent, for what he thought was the greater good. This lie worked for a while when Gothams criminal activity was demolished. But everything changed with the arrival of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy) who's ruthless plan for Gotham drive Bruce Wayne out of his self-imposed exile. Though Batman will do is stuff, he may be no match for the terrorist of Bane. Though I thought there were many plot misques with Bane and Catwoman, I admired the emergence of a hero at the end. I would give this movie a A- and a 4 out of 5. The domestic sales for the movie are now up to a grand total of 287.1 million dollars which was less than projected because of the midnight shootings in Colorado. The director of this movie was none other than Christopher Nolan. Go and see the third and final movie of this fantastic series!

The Amazing Spider-Man

Spider Man swung into theaters on July 3rd. This was a reboot of the original film with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst from a decade ago Peter Parker is a smart highschooler and social outcast. He tries to find information on his past and his lost father. On the way he discovers spider-like powers and helps the city in a red mask. The police call him a criminal. Ironically the police captain is the father of Gwen Stacy, who Peter is dating. The movie is cliff hanging. It does a great job of connecting to Gwen's emotions.
Rhys Ifans was a convincing mad scientist who becomes the Lizard. For the most part, I found the 3-D unnecessary. However, The Emma Stone/Andrew Garfirld chemistry is good. Many of the actors do better than many in the original Spiderman, but not including Aunt May, though Emma Stone is certainly better than Kristen Dunst. This Spidey film is Spectacular. It will be interesting to see how it does compared to The Dark Knight Rises (July 20) and the first Spiderman from 2002. I rate it an A on my grade scale.
