Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days combined books The Last Straw and Dog Days in the Diary of a Wimpy kid series by Jeff Kinney.Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) is looking forward to a lazy summer filled with video games. But his dad (Steve Zahn) might send him to Military school and his mother has "other ideas" for a good time. It is humorous.Greg also ends up trying to spend time with his best friednd Rowley (Robert Capron) and his love interest Holly Hills (Peyton R. List). The family bonding teaches a bit of a lesson. However, some scenes were all but unpredictable. Overall I rated the film a B-. While its main viewers (ages 7-13) will like it, people out of its main age range will not enjoy it. Which might be its purpose. But if you saw the second film Rodrick Rules, this one is not quite as good. It seems more optomistic than the books. Kids- still do not hesitate to see it.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Spider Man swung into theaters on July 3rd. This was a reboot of the original film with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst from a decade ago Peter Parker is a smart highschooler and social outcast. He tries to find information on his past and his lost father. On the way he discovers spider-like powers and helps the city in a red mask. The police call him a criminal. Ironically the police captain is the father of Gwen Stacy, who Peter is dating. The movie is cliff hanging. It does a great job of connecting to Gwen's emotions.
Rhys Ifans was a convincing mad scientist who becomes the Lizard. For the most part, I found the 3-D unnecessary. However, The Emma Stone/Andrew Garfirld chemistry is good. Many of the actors do better than many in the original Spiderman, but not including Aunt May, though Emma Stone is certainly better than Kristen Dunst. This Spidey film is Spectacular. It will be interesting to see how it does compared to The Dark Knight Rises (July 20) and the first Spiderman from 2002. I rate it an A on my grade scale.

Madagascar 3:Europe's Most Wanted
Yesterday I witnessed Madagascar 3. Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller) Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock) Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) continue their quest to get home. They are being hunted by a European animal control officer. Their mission to return to Central Park Zoo now involves joining a circus. They are admitted by Gia the Jaguar (Jessica Chastain). They perform in hopes of doing the circus in NYC. I personally found King Julien the Lemur's (Sacha Baron Cohen)subplot irrelevant to the story, but he becomes pivotal in the end. Marty the Zebra and the penguins provided comedy. I give the film an A- and it is a good family film.

The Avengers
Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johannasson) has assembeled ragtag Marvel superheroes known as the Avengers. It consists of Iron Man, (Robert Downey Jr.) Captain America, (Chris Evans)the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). They want to regain the Tesseract from Thor's evil brother Loki (Tom Hiddelston). Robert Downey Jr. provides sparks of laughter as does Mark Ruffalo. It was in question whether director Joss Whedon could pull of packing in so many superheroes into this one film, but trust me, he succeeds. The plot is also affected by conflict between Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. It makes you wonder how they will save New York. Of couse it is action packed and exciting, almost as expected. The plot and movie as a whole is thrilling. It has already grossed $1 billion.

Tower Heist on DVD
The 2011 comedy Tower Heist is on DVD and Blu-Ray. It came out yesterday, on February 21. The film is about a manager named Josh (Ben Stiller) and his attempt to recover money lost in a Ponzi scheme by a invester named Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda). Josh works with a criminal named Slide (Eddie Murphy) and others such as the tower's new wotker Enrique. THe film is hilarious, mainly because of Eddie Murphy's remarks. I rated it an "A" on the grade scale and advise you see this film. The action and humor combine and make it terrific.

Arthur and Lancelot Removed from Calendar
Arthur and Lancelot's release date has been postponed, and no one knows for how long. It is a film on the classical Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table that was scheduled to come to theaters on March 15, 2013. David Dobkin was to direct and Joel Kinnaman, a Swedish TV actor, was to be the lead--Lancelot. The predicted budget increased to 130Million. It was said that if the budget didn't go down, Warner Bros. would have trouble producing it. The budget stayed, but the movie didn't stay on its release date. Dobkin told the crew and cast that production wasn't looking too good. Warner Sros. said of the matter "It's not dead." Not dead, just disapearing for a while. It will be intresting to see when the film will come out. Medieval movies might have a good turnout in theaters

Tower Heist
Tower Heist is hilarious. The film hit theaters on November 4th. It stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda and Casey Affleck.
When Arthur Shaw's (Alda) Ponzi scheme is revealed, the tower workers are devastated, and have lost all funds. Josh,(Stiller) feeling partially responsible, intends on getting it back. In addition to the newest tower employee, a broke Merrill Lynch invester and Charlie, (Affleck) Josh enlists the help of a petty neighborhood criminal named Slide (Murphy). They plan for a break in on Thanksgiving. Anything can happen during a robbery, and the truth can be shocking...
Murphy is back from unpopular, serious, commercial films, and is drop dead funny. Alda makes Shaw remind you of Bernie Maddoff and his scheme. Michael Pena is fresh and funny as the new Tower employee from Burger King. I rate it an "A" on a grade scale. It's terrific and comical.

On Stranger Tides DVD Release
Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides in coming on DVD and Blu-Ray tommorow (October 18). Let Jack, Angelica, and all the others sail to your home. I enjoyed it. I think director Rob Marshall did fine without former stars like Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Bill Nighy.
Blackbeard and Angelica kidnap Jack aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge. Barbossa and the English are also on the quest for the Fountain of Youth, as they face pirates and Spaniards. It stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Geoffrey Rush and Stephen Graham. The new tides include also cannabalistic mermaids. Everyone wants the fountain. I rated it a 4.5 of 5 stars. It's action packed and funny. As I put it, Excellent and cliff hanging. So buy it when it comes to Blu-Ray and DVD tommorow.

Comming Soon to DVD: Rodrick Rules
On Tuesday, June 21, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules is coming to Blue Ray and DVD. The movie is mostly based on the sequel to the hit Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a hit book by Jeff Kinney. Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) doesn't get along with his brother (Devan Bostick). Attempts to make them bond by their mother (Rachel Harris) all botch. This happens until the brothers cover up a party they Rodrick was forbidden to host. But when there actions change and they are "convicted" by their parents. Rodrick returns to torturing Greg and they argue.
The movie has humor and is a story of friendship. I liked it, and rated it a B. So buy it and watch this film when comes to stores tomorrow.

Captain Jack is back in a new installment of Pirates of the Carribean! And this time, he is on a new adventure. He is on a quest to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. He runs into a woman of his past named Angelica who drags him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge captained by her father the infamous Blackbeard. On the journey, they will find mermaids and zombies. Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow) Penelope Cruz (Angelica) Geoffery Rush (Hector Barbossa) Ian McShane (Blackbeard) and Stephen Graham (Scrum) star in this film. Will and Elizabeth won't be returning unfortunatly but this movie should still be cliff-hanging. See who gets control of the Fountain This Friday.

Megamind Coming Soon
Megamind came out to theaters last November. On February 25, it will be on DVD and Blue Ray. Don't miss the story of the comical villan who must for once be a hero for the sake of the town. Will Ferrell stars as Megamind and Tina Fey is Roxxane Ritchi along with many others. Can Megamind defeat his creation--Tighten now that the hero Metro Man isn't there to help? Find out in this tale that can come to your home and your TV screen on February 25. I rated it a B+ and enjoyed it. It was good, and humorous for children and exciting for youngsters.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley) Pevensie are visiting their unpleasant cousin Eustace (Will Poulter) when they once again are pulled into the magical world of Narnia. There, they meet up with their friend King Caspian (Ben Barnes) on the Dawn Treader, a ship. They are travelling to find the seven lords banished by Caspian's evil uncle Miraz years before. They go to many different islands, looking for signs of the seven lords. But Dark Island is a threat. It is the center of evil. Each of the seven lords carried a special sword. All seven swords must be laid at Aslan's Table to end the evil. Now Caspian, Lucy, and Edmund must face their personal temptations and fears to end the villany.
This installment of the Chronicles of Narnia is directed by Michael Apted. Personally, I enjoyed it better than the last movie of the series: Prince Caspian. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has plenty of fantasy adventure and is religious in the end. It also explains Eustace's turn from unpleasant traveller to hero (although he literally changes into a dragon). I rate this a four star movie. It is something the family can enjoy!

Megamind Movie
I've seen Megamind, a movie which hit theaters on November 5th 2010. Megamind is a blue headed baby that escaped his home planet, which was in great danger. Metro Man escaped a similar planet. They come to Earth to live. They grow up, but no one accepts Megamind, though Goody Goody Two Shoes (a.k.a. Metro Man) is a favorite. Megamind becomes a criminal, a nuisence to Metro City (the large town in which the story takes place). Metro Man is his rival, a superhero. Megamind's plans always failed, until Metro Man is missing and assumed killed. Even as evil overlord, something is missing. What is a villan with no hero to battle? Megamind creates a hero.Hal is a camera man for a news reporter, named Roxxane. Hal hates his life. But he becomes Tighten, a hero. This is before he decides being bad is cooler. He is worse than Megamind! He is destroying the town. Can Megamind be the hero to defeat Tighten, or will Metro City go up in flames? Find out!Tom McGarth is director of this fine film. Of course, seeing it in 3D gave it a boost. Its better than Despicable Me. Despicable Me was the other super villan movie this year, and I rated that film a C-. I found Despicable Me a sorry film. Megamind is much more humorous, and has more action. Megamind is comedy and action, in a animated 3D adventure that the family will enjoy! Its a must-see, with voice talents of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt. I rate it B+ movie.
