Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days combined books The Last Straw and Dog Days in the Diary of a Wimpy kid series by Jeff Kinney.Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) is looking forward to a lazy summer filled with video games. But his dad (Steve Zahn) might send him to Military school and his mother has "other ideas" for a good time. It is humorous.Greg also ends up trying to spend time with his best friednd Rowley (Robert Capron) and his love interest Holly Hills (Peyton R. List). The family bonding teaches a bit of a lesson. However, some scenes were all but unpredictable. Overall I rated the film a B-. While its main viewers (ages 7-13) will like it, people out of its main age range will not enjoy it. Which might be its purpose. But if you saw the second film Rodrick Rules, this one is not quite as good. It seems more optomistic than the books. Kids- still do not hesitate to see it.

The Dark Knight Rises

It has been 8 long years since Batman (Christian Bale) had turned from a hero to a fugitive in one night for killing Gothams beloved D.A. Harvey Dent, for what he thought was the greater good. This lie worked for a while when Gothams criminal activity was demolished. But everything changed with the arrival of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy) who's ruthless plan for Gotham drive Bruce Wayne out of his self-imposed exile. Though Batman will do is stuff, he may be no match for the terrorist of Bane. Though I thought there were many plot misques with Bane and Catwoman, I admired the emergence of a hero at the end. I would give this movie a A- and a 4 out of 5. The domestic sales for the movie are now up to a grand total of 287.1 million dollars which was less than projected because of the midnight shootings in Colorado. The director of this movie was none other than Christopher Nolan. Go and see the third and final movie of this fantastic series!

The Amazing Spider-Man

Spider Man swung into theaters on July 3rd. This was a reboot of the original film with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst from a decade ago Peter Parker is a smart highschooler and social outcast. He tries to find information on his past and his lost father. On the way he discovers spider-like powers and helps the city in a red mask. The police call him a criminal. Ironically the police captain is the father of Gwen Stacy, who Peter is dating. The movie is cliff hanging. It does a great job of connecting to Gwen's emotions.
Rhys Ifans was a convincing mad scientist who becomes the Lizard. For the most part, I found the 3-D unnecessary. However, The Emma Stone/Andrew Garfirld chemistry is good. Many of the actors do better than many in the original Spiderman, but not including Aunt May, though Emma Stone is certainly better than Kristen Dunst. This Spidey film is Spectacular. It will be interesting to see how it does compared to The Dark Knight Rises (July 20) and the first Spiderman from 2002. I rate it an A on my grade scale.

Madagascar 3:Europe's Most Wanted

Yesterday I witnessed Madagascar 3. Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller) Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock) Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) continue their quest to get home. They are being hunted by a European animal control officer. Their mission to return to Central Park Zoo now involves joining a circus. They are admitted by Gia the Jaguar (Jessica Chastain). They perform in hopes of doing the circus in NYC. I personally found King Julien the Lemur's (Sacha Baron Cohen)subplot irrelevant to the story, but he becomes pivotal in the end. Marty the Zebra and the penguins provided comedy. I give the film an A- and it is a good family film.

MIB3

The Men in Black are back, and this time Agent J (Will Smith) must take a trip into the past in order to save both the future and his partner Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) in the third installment of the hit sci-fi comedy series. After 15 years of working with aliens from all across the universe, Agent J is sure he's seen it all. But just when he's getting the hang of the game, he learns that history has inexplicably been rewritten. In this new timeline of events, Agent K has been dead for 40 years, and Earth will soon come under attack from an extraterrestrial force with the power to claim the entire planet. Now, in order to set the past straight and head off an invasion of epic proportions, Agent J must travel back to the year 1969, when Young Agent K (Josh Brolin) was just a fresh new face on the force. But Agent J only has 24 hours to find the source of the coming catastrophe and find out how his longtime partner ties into the situation -- should he fail he'll be stuck in the past forever. Jemaine Clement, Alice Eve, and Emma Thompson co-star.

The Avengers

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johannasson) has assembeled ragtag Marvel superheroes known as the Avengers. It consists of Iron Man, (Robert Downey Jr.) Captain America, (Chris Evans)the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). They want to regain the Tesseract from Thor's evil brother Loki (Tom Hiddelston). Robert Downey Jr. provides sparks of laughter as does Mark Ruffalo. It was in question whether director Joss Whedon could pull of packing in so many superheroes into this one film, but trust me, he succeeds. The plot is also affected by conflict between Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. It makes you wonder how they will save New York. Of couse it is action packed and exciting, almost as expected. The plot and movie as a whole is thrilling. It has already grossed $1 billion. Victor Simmons

Tower Heist on DVD

The 2011 comedy Tower Heist is on DVD and Blu-Ray. It came out yesterday, on February 21. The film is about a manager named Josh (Ben Stiller) and his attempt to recover money lost in a Ponzi scheme by a invester named Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda). Josh works with a criminal named Slide (Eddie Murphy) and others such as the tower's new wotker Enrique. THe film is hilarious, mainly because of Eddie Murphy's remarks. I rated it an "A" on the grade scale and advise you see this film. The action and humor combine and make it terrific.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

In the 4th installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States. An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is canceled, and will be offered no help or backup in any form. Ethan and his team go on with the mission and chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, and several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster. The actors in this film include Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton. A movie you must see!

Arthur and Lancelot Removed from Calendar

Arthur and Lancelot's release date has been postponed, and no one knows for how long. It is a film on the classical Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table that was scheduled to come to theaters on March 15, 2013. David Dobkin was to direct and Joel Kinnaman, a Swedish TV actor, was to be the lead--Lancelot. The predicted budget increased to 130Million. It was said that if the budget didn't go down, Warner Bros. would have trouble producing it. The budget stayed, but the movie didn't stay on its release date. Dobkin told the crew and cast that production wasn't looking too good. Warner Sros. said of the matter "It's not dead." Not dead, just disapearing for a while. It will be intresting to see when the film will come out. Medieval movies might have a good turnout in theaters
